Electrical Wiring Course

Motorcycle Training Course

Course Structure

Throughout its forty year history, four (4) main technical courses have been offered: Motorcycle Mechanics, Electrical Wiring, Computer Training, and Mobile Servicing.  This year the Motorcycle Mechanics and Electrical Wiring classes are running.  The students gain both academic and hands-on training at STC before taking their knowledge to a local garage or shop where they can continue to develop their practical skills in the field as follows:

Student Life

Since many students come from the village, they live onsite at the center where their room and board is provided.  The students’ mornings and afternoons are filled with technical and moral teaching with time for study and chores in the evenings.  For the 3 daily meals, all the students and present staff eat together in the small dining room, enjoying traditional meals of rice, vegetables, lentils and fish.  In their spare time, they can play badminton, carrom, or even get exercise through playing football in the bordering playing field.  This boarding situation creates close-knit relationships between the students and staff as they work together throughout their stay.

Student Testimonial

Hello, my name is Shakib. I am an 18-year-old from the home district of Mymensingh. I live there in the village with my whole family, which includes my parents and younger brother who is currently in 2nd grade.  I had been studying faithfully until 5th grade, but I couldn’t continue due to family problems. Since my father is the only one who provides an income for our family, we all depend on his work for buying our daily food and necessities. However, when I saw my father’s income wasn’t enough to fully support our daily needs, I decided to join my father in his work.  I did my best but quickly learned I wasn’t as strong for handling this work like my father.

One of my neighbors, Jahagir, a former STC student, told me I could come and receive training for a specific trade, through which I could earn money to help support my family. Realizing that without any technical training I couldn’t earn enough money for my family, I was happy to learn about this training opportunity, and following his recommendation, enrolled for motor mechanic training (Motorcycle, Auto rickshaw and CNG repair).  During my time at STC I have received much technical training, making it the best time of my life.

During my three month practicum, I am working at a mechanical workshop. I have plans to open my own in a few years, but first would like to save up funds to start it.  I’m very grateful to all of my STC teachers, and really appreciated the efforts of STC to help me become a highly skilled person to serve the people.
